Birds of Prey v1 022 - The Hostage Heart 01

Hairy Situation.

It begins a new three-part story, which is a direct continuation of the Hunt for Oracle.
It's no wonder, since this is ended that Dinah gave up herself for Blockbuster as Oracle. Well it is continuing here. Dinah is welcomed with champagne.

Blockbuster has not chased Oracle for his stolen millions, but because he has wanted to give her an assignment. In the background, Oracle (she is in Robin's car for the moment) is despairs of course when she hears that Blockbuster needs Dinah's non existing capabilities.
Along the way, Black Canary still has to stop, because Dinah has forgotten something at the edge of the road.

Exactly, she is Lady Vic in the trunk, and she will also be needed for this mission, but fortunately Dinah has remembered. (I Note that this car was red in the Birds of Prey 21, and it was purple in Nightwing 46. Apparently, each was colored by a different colorist.) Deathstroke and Gorilla Grimm also join the small team.

Our heroes fly away into the sunset. Although, come to think of it, the submarine chase was at night, in addition Africa is east to America, so I prefer to fly to the sunrise. Now that they are on the way, it's the time that Dinah finally learns the essence of the mission.

They go to Gorilla City to seek an appropriate heart donor for Blockbuster, who needs Oracle (Dinah) as a living search engine to find Gorilla City and the donor with right DNA. About the reason of participation of Deathstroke, it's only a few clichéd phrase accompanied some knowing glances.

(Unfortunately the effect of the scene is completely killed by the terrible drawing.)
The team arrives at the target site, so they jump. Oracle thinks that it's the time to tell the most important ones to Dinah: Gorilla City is hidden from before the satellites by something special technique, and if Canary would identify its location, the Justice League would be grateful (Black Canary is a  former member).

After the touchdown, Lady Vic thinks that it is time to betray to Dinah what means those telling glimpses of the first:

Deathstroke is here to avenge his ex-wife, who killed by Grodd, the gorilla king. He needs the girls only to found Gorilly City, afterwards they will on the to bypass list.
Now it is the time that Black Canary is flashing her (non-existing) computer whiz capabilities. But no worries, Oracle picks up things on the net and while she even tells Canary what words she says. There is a little slip with this. When Oracle guest, Ted Kord (alias is Blue Beetle if someone does not remember) arrives, she exclaims with delight that "Ted" and Dinah, of course, says this also to the others, but then somehow she rationalizes it away :)

However, neither Dinah nor Oracle do not find the track of Gorilla City by the computer, so they start off by the help of Gorilla Grimm.
But they are expected to.

It has started a new story, so Chuck Dixon spares no plot nor gags for us, although exceptionally the story now only runs on only one thread. However, it is no action, but he always uses to open the new stories by something action scene. Although it is true that this is a semi-sequel. Butch Guice is worse than usual, unfortunately, his draws are totally sketchy. Not to mention that faces of Lady Vic Dinah are totally same. I have not engaged in the colorists until now, but now apparently we got a new one in the person of Shannon Blanchard. And I must comment what she does: Guice somehow has been good in the dark-toned images, and Blanchard fills up all irritatingly bright colors, just to be even more terrible is the result: ( ( She thankfully backs on herself at the night scene at the end.)
Canary mentions, when she sees Deathstroke was, that Slade tried to kill her at their most recent encounter. She thought what happened in the Brotherhood of the Fist.
