Why isn't this man smiling?
So let back to the mainstream.
The Justice League (Superman, Flash, Plastic
Man, Martian Manhunter and Green Lantern) arrives to the lunar headquarters,
and they see that the Earth has Joker Face (it is effective but we don't
receive explanation nor now nor later).
In Gotham, Batman is searching in vain Joker
because he is on Easter Island with his mates
(this is shot also at the cover).
Meanwhile, scientists explain to President LexLuthor through a couple of pages how the villains were jokerized. After this
long and unnecessary prelude, then it turns out that the Joker would like to
beget an heir. To this end, he sends some suitors to Harley Quinn and they
don't accept no for answer. Harley bounds to turn to Oracle for help. Barbara sends
cavalry: Batgirl (Cassandra Cain) and Spoiler who are currently available.
Harley is upset that only small scout girls have come to her rescue, and in
fact, they are taken care of it soon.
Now, for stalling for suspense, we interrupt
this program to turn President Lex Luthor who announces the war against Joker.
Joker watches the broadcast too and he is pissed off a little bit, because up
to now he had an alliance with Lex Luthor.
Meanwhile, Nightwing has arrived not to Spoiler
and Batgirl (where he should) but Barbara. You can worry for the girls through
a page, but now the cavalry really arrives in the person of Powergirl.
So Harley has escaped from the suitors, but of
course she is prisoner and has to help the military in the preparation of serum
against the Joker-venom. While Oracle argues with Nightwing a portion about
what does Nighwting play the protector and why can't they kill Joker. At the
end, it becomes a tearful rolling over each other.
As a conclusion, you can even see that Joker is
completely freaking out those that it is not blood-red sky in turn it is the
indispensable companion of every crisis.
Well, the story is now beginning to flat out,
so Chuck Dixon and Scott Beatty can't really fill 30 pages. In addition, now
the Shilo-Dina thread is also stopped (up to now it added not too much to the
story), so it doesn't occupy the pages. However, the marriage proposal of
Harley is very good, definitely the better part of the whole series up to now
(and I'm afraid that thereafter too): the girls just throw the gags unstoppable.
Sadly, it was enough for only one-third of the booklet. The drawer, Walter McDaniel
is very good. He can draw best the action scenes of rescuing of Harley Quinn,
moreover, he can pair visual gags with the text humor. I am not completely satisfied
with those huge teeth and his facial shading technique.
A lot of jokerized Super Evil also appear, I
try to list and labeled them (I can't all).
Joker's suitors: Floronic Man, Carnivora,
Killer Frost, Dervish, Phobia. New Wave appears among the Jokerized super evils
who destroy the world. On the Easter
Islands: Solomon Grundy,
Effigy and Rancor. In addition, Robin has also a frame.
